Journal: The Jilting of Granny Weatherall The one feeling that comes to me while reading this is frustration. I can feel the frustration Granny Weatherall feels as she is constantly treated like a helpless woman. It may be for her best interests but I can only imagine sitting there wanting to do something I am capable of yet not allowed to do it. Imagine being trapped in a small dark space and screaming to the top of your lungs yet no one hears. The narrator described the way Cornelia treats Granny Waetherall, â€Å"Cornelia thought she was deaf, dumb, and blind† to point out all the small remarks of disrespect Cornelia shows. Granny later states, â€Å"wait till your own grandchildren whisper behind your back†. Obviously states Granny Weatherall’s objection to being treated like an â€Å"old† and â€Å"dying† woman. Granny Weatherall with her old age does seem to be showing some signs of cognitive impairment. She’s extremely disor iented at times and easily forgets people, past meetings she’s had, and even the time of day when the doctor comes back to see her and she claims she saw him five minutes ago when actually, it was night time and the last time he came was that morning. With her cognitive impairment she also seems to have brief periods where she remembers when she was â€Å"jilted† or rejected or abandoned by her significant other. The â€Å"white veil† and â€Å"white cake† are reoccurring objects throughout the story depicting her pain and anger from the day her husband to be left her alone on the alter. She makes it obvious she still has ill feelings toward him. Her memory of him is described as â€Å" a smoky cloud from hell that move and crept in her head†. Throughout the story Granny Weatherall seems very content with the dying. The narrator mentions that â€Å"she felt very old, finished, went around making trips to see children and grandchildren† . Basically accepting death whenever it would come. But it came when she was finishing up business with her will. She quotes, ‘So, my dear Lord, this is my death and I wasn’t even thinking about it†. Quebec s Five Demands A Reasonable Request - 1616 Words

Akanksha Bhatnagar Dr. Mark Blythe POL S 225: Canadian Government Due: 7 March 2016 Are Quebec’s Five Demands a reasonable request? The relationship between the Canadian government and Quebec has been in constant turmoil for years. This paper will discuss and critique Quebec’s five demands made in 1986 by the Liberal government and their current implications. Reasonable demands are ones in which a limited amount of asymmetrical federalism grants provincial sovereignty. Currently all provinces have certain guaranteed rights, however Quebec’s rights provide more autonomy. Quebec, though home to the largest population of French speaking Canadians, have asked too much of the Government of Canada. This is evident Quebec’s increased control over immigration, Supreme Court Justices appointment, and their veto on future constitutional negotiations. Conversely, the demand of recognizing Quebec as a distinct society is however reasonable and has been accommodated into Canadian society, and the ability to restrict federal spending power keeps the federal power in check. In this essay, I will discuss eac h demand, and argue whether or not it is reasonable. The Royal Proclamation of 1763 was Canada’s first attempt at creating a nation. Along with establishing the constitutional framework for Aboriginal Treaty negotiations, it additionally defined the new territory of the Province of Quebec. Steel formwork system are the most popular group which can to be used in assorted types of design structural and many stage of building in our industry because of its flexibleness and reclaimable. Besides that, steel formwork system is easier for used and installing among other groups and offer a high quality coating. It suited applied in tunnel signifiers, columns and beam molding signifiers and lasting steel formworks. The elements of steel framing system are steel beams and columns, roof trusses and portal frames which usually used together with precast beams, column and floor slabs. In add-on, this system is suited for clip effectual and skyscraper building undertaking. Prefabricated lumber bordering system is usually adopted as lumber frames, and roof trusses of a edifice. This system ever has been used extensively in western states lodging developments. Furthermore, it offers a unique and interesting design while the rate of lumbers is bit by bit increasing in presents. Nowadays, many of development edifice undertakings are used block work system such as meshing concrete masonry units ( CMU ) and lightweight concrete blocks. The component of block work systems usually used as bricks in constructions and meshing concrete block paving. 2.4 Precast Concrete Framing, Panel and Box System 2.4.1 Introduction Precast concrete can specify as elements or constituents are cured and manufactured in mills or works environments with high quality control and so transported to site for installing and assembled into construction. The use of precast system in Malaysia building sector is non new, particularly for rapid building undertaking with high truth, productiveness and quality such as schools, infirmaries, Light Rail Transit ( LRT ) , Mass Rapid Transit ( MRT ) , flats, drain substructures etc. However, the application of precast concrete system still low as calculating while authorities was actively advancing it. The industry chooses to utilize the conventional building method and disregard the benefits of utilizing precast system. The most common types of precast concrete system structural elements in pattern: Precast Slab
